Default Do the prices of dye fluctuate often?

Sorry if this belongs in price check, but I'm not asking for a quote on an item per se.

I noticed that the quotes on dyes (I guess white and black specifically) tend to vary a bit, I've seen as high as 7.5k and last night was 6.5k.

I picked up a black dye questing and was going to sell for some gold, but wanted to know if the price varies often or if 6-7k was the general rate for them, or if they go up and down and I should watch the market first (I'm new to the game, so don't know if it's normalized or if it's something I should watch a while).

Also, you can buy black dye from the dye merchant, correct? I ask because I can buy all but the white, black, and silver dye from the merchant from the look of it, but don't know if that's because it's more gold than I have or if it's rare and the merchant doesn't sell it.

Thanks!

definitely wait and watch the market before you sell it to the dye trader or another player. Usually the price for the black dye is around 9ish.

oh and Yes to your 2nd question. You can buy black dye (any dye) from the dye merchant anytime. (it's always cheaper buying it from another player tho)

the price usually fluctuates down when there are drop events because people farm stuff, farming stuff means more dyes which means price drops, like the current situation. Tons of people are farming cupcakes which makes the dyes drop because there are a lot of them dropping

Wait a few days to sell it. Currently a large chunk of the population is raptor farming for cupcakes, it's a very high speed, high kill rate run which also generates large numbers of dyes.

Once the festival ends the number of ppl farming should drop and dye price will jump a bit. Way too low currently.

as with most things, during new metas, new farms, and so on, items lowers their price
dyes the other hand, goes low when it drops special items, as atm,
people farm alot >more dyes drop>more "less expensive dyes"(not white, black)gets selled to dye trader, and the price lowers..

Event with special drops (such as cupcakes, golden eggs, bunnies, grog, etc etc) means raptor farming and vaettir farming.

Raptor and vaettir farming means lots, lots, lots of dye influx. This is reflected in trader price.

Not sure of the current Dye Trader situation, but they can and do sell out at times. It is based on the age old supply and demand for inventory. If nobody sells dye, and people buy it, the trader will run out until someone sells more. The inventory the trader has is how the price is determined. When the trader has a lot, the price goes down so he can sell some. When the trader has little left, the price goes up. I remember when the first Dragon Mask was released and there was a massive rush to buy black dye for it. Didn't take long for the trader to sell out and people were making a fortune selling Black Dye for more than double the normal price.
